The photo of the brown bear is taken at the Finnish/Russian borderTime
Wating for a couple of hours, the bear came to the lake about an half hour before the sun was all goneLighting
Shooting against the sun is tricky, both for exposure an focus. Keep your lens squeky clean to avoid as much sunflare as possibleEquipment
The picture is taken with a Canon EOS 5 DSR and a sigma 150-600 S @600 mm mounted on a tripod with a ball headInspiration
I am a little over the top interested i big mammals so as the possibility to go to "bear-land" came up, this was a no-brainer.Editing
All my photos is both sorted and processed in Lightroom. The bear shot has got the all over, but especially I worked with hightlights and shadows as the photo was taken against the sun.In my camera bag
My bag is usually packed with thoughts of what I expect to take puctures of, In Finland I used Canon EOS 5DSR with Sigma 150-600 S and Canon 5DmkIII with Canon 24-70 f/2.8. On other occasions I also pack Canon 16-35 f/2.8 and 2 Canon speedlight with external trigger and ofcourse the Black Magic Cinema PocketFeedback
Patience, patience and patience. Next to a thorough research before planning your trip, patience is important. Waiting for hours to get the pictures is part of the game. This picture is all about the lightning so before you go out in the swamp you should be sure that you know how to fet the exposure right. There is not much time to reconsider when the bear comes in to sight. Also you should be familiar with manual focusing, as both trees an shooting against the sun might fool your automatic focus system
