Please excuse the grain, this was shot about 1982 on Tri-X 400 ASA film. It is a thin neg with the sky almost burnt out and the lower half virtually transparent. I rescanned it a couple of years ago.
The subject is a nuclear dissarmament campaigner sat outside a 'bender' shelter near Menwith Hill secret surveillance base, North Yorkshire. In the back ground you can just make out Greenham Common banner from where many of these campaigners came from after being evicted. For me I remember it as if it were yesterday and the dramatic sunset only lasted minutes, nothing was staged and this shot reminds me that capturing the moment is the most magical and fulfilling part of photo journalism for me.
