Behind The Lens
Location
Venice, Italy. It was my first time travelling to a different country and I was pretty excited for a new scene to photograph. This trip made me realize that I want to become a photographer for someone like National Geographic, so I can travel around the world and photograph all the wonderful things I see.Time
It was mid afternoon on a sunny day and I was lucky enough to have a tall building blocking the direct sunlight so nothing was harsh or washed out. I don't usually like taking photos when the sun is high but this was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.Lighting
The sun was blocked buy a building but it still let in just enough light to make the scene well lit.Equipment
I just used my Sony NEX-F3. I didn't take much equipment with me, I wanted to travel lite, i didn't even bring a tripod with me.Inspiration
Everyone was stopped for some reason and I saw how all of the gondolas were lined up together and I found it interesting. I found it interesting because your eye moves right down the line on gondolas, it's almost as if the line never ends. I waited for the guy with the ore in the foreground to move but he didn't so I decided to take a few pictures anyway. I'm starting to think that the ore in the foreground adds to the consistency of the line of gondolas.Editing
I don't do much post-processing but with this photo I brightened it up a bit and added some contrast. I didn't want to change it too much because Venice has so much natural beauty that a lot of post-processing wasn't necessary. In my camera bag
It depends on what I am doing that day. If it's just a nature walk I bring my Sony NEX-F3 with either my 55mm lens or my 210mm lens. If it's a for a job I bring my Sony NEX-F3, 55mm lens, 210 mm lens, filters, a tripod,Feedback
I personally think that gondola rides are overrated but I would recommend to any photographer needing a new perspective. It's a great way to get into the side waterways and see everything at a different angle.
