Thanks, this is one of our favorite places. We park the motorhome across the street from this lake for several weeks each year.

Location
This was taken at Silver Lake, on the June Lake Loop in the Eastern Sierra.Time
I'm usually up before sunrise to walk my 3 little dogs, and I always carry a camera with me!Lighting
The early morning light in the Eastern Sierra is usually wonderful! It takes the sun a bit longer to get over the high mountain peaks but it's worth waiting for!Equipment
I used my Olympus E-M5 with Olympus 17mm lens, handheld. The E-M5 has a 5 axis image stabilizer and allows me to take photos without a tripod in low light situations.Inspiration
My Wife, 3 little dogs and I usually spend 3 to 4 weeks each year in this location. The scenery is magnificent everywhere you look and you may be overwhelmed the 1st time you see it. I am lucky to be able to see this scene every morning and try to make some photos each morning.Editing
I did some post processing to this image. My original is RAW, and I start out using Adobe RAW, and then into Photoshop. Most of my tweaks are contrast, color saturation, and noise reduction if necessary. I used to do a lot of HDR and overcooked a lot of photos. Now I've gone the other way and rarely use HDR.In my camera bag
My goal for the last few years has been to shrink my photo equipment footprint. My camera bags are small, and lightweight. I carry my Olympus E-M5 and a couple of lenses in one bag, and now my Panasonic FZ1000 in another.Feedback
The one piece of advice I have for anyone tying to capture something similar is this - "It's All About the Light". That means you either need to get your butt out of bed to catch sunrise, or stay later to catch sunset. It also helps to do some research, maybe even use an app to help you find the direction of sunrise/sunset, and exactly when the golden hours are going to happen. While you can grab some shots of scenery during the middle of the day (I do it myself), nothing sets an image apart from the rest like warm golden light.
