I agree, wonderful composition. Glad to see you approach this structure from the side, as we see a lot shot from underneath. Beautiful lighting, and the B&W is fantastic. Congratulations, This is a wonderful image.

Location
Makai Research Pier, Oahu HawaiiTime
Evening, golden hourLighting
Not much to share about light that can not be seen. They sky was not extrordinarly colorful and made for a relatively dull evening. The black and white made it a bit more dramatic.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D810, nikkor16-35mm f4, lee big stopper, lee .9 hard grad, and lee cpl.Inspiration
I have always loved the beach and seascapes. I have been shooting in Hawaii for about 3 years and wanted to shoot at a pier; this is the only pier publicly available on Oahu.Editing
Not too much actually. Just a bit of sharpening and noise reduction from the length of the exposure. I also converted to black and white and played with some color filters in lightroom. In my camera bag
Nikon d810, d800. For landscapes, Lee filters, 16-35mm, 24-70mm, and a 16mm fisheye. Portraits I keep my 85mm and 80-200 mm with a few speed lights and modifiers.Feedback
Be patient. Using the big stopper takes some time to learn and use. Using in camera long exposure noise reduction makes PP much easier later but increases the amount of time between shots. Just enjoy being out shooting.
