Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the beach of a small fishing village of MacArthur on the island of Leyte in Philippines.

Time

This was taken in the late morning after sleeping in and relaxing from my flight from Manilla.

Lighting

The light was luck and timing. The clouds did a great job of diffusing the sun enough to prevent from hard shadows. I knew since a typhoon came in recently that the clouds would be here but not abundant like the eyes of the typhoon.

Equipment

I was shooting with my Canon 60D at the time this was taken. I used a circular polarizer to cut glare and add Intensity to the sky.

Inspiration

Island life. Taking a walk around the village, I wanted to show it’s main source of income which is fishing. This is one of the many boats on the small area.

Editing

At the time this was taken I did my post processing in Apple’s Aperture. Mostly adding details and fixing lighting.

In my camera bag

Currently I usually have my Olympus OMD EM5ii, iPhone, 45mm f/1.8, 17mm f/1.8 neutral density filters and a tripod.

Feedback

Relax and talk a walk and enjoy the scene. Sometimes just pacing without a camera will inspire a good framing and really make you pay attention to what is around you.
