Behind The Lens

Location

Side of a road in Central California. I was driving, on my way to a workshop and this guy was literally standing on the white line on the side of the road. I passed him and he didn't even flinch. I turned around, got out and snapped a few shots. Eventually as I tried to get closer he flew away.

Inspiration

I was driving, on my way to a workshop in California and this beauty was literally standing on the white line on the side of the road. I passed him and he didn't even flinch. I turned around, got out and snapped a few shots. Eventually as I tried to get closer he flew further away and landed on this bail of hay. The funny thing was, I accidentally formatted my card (TWICE) almost losing the first nights shots from the workshop as well as these. I got some recovery software to get back my workshop shots and because the card wasn't full, these were still on it as well.

Now I have a D800 (D200 is in a separate bag for a backup) Nikon 14-24mm 2.8 Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 Nikon 50mm 1.4 Nikon 85mm 1.8 Tamron 70-200 Manfrotto Tripod I also carry with me a few Yonguo 560 II flashes, stands and triggers for other types of work.

Feedback

This was good luck on so many levels. Proper bird photogs will have better advice. Just keep your long lens handy as they won't let you close. Oh, and always import your photos before formatting your card. :)
