Location
In a small town called Mandawa in state of Rajasthan in India. The place is around 300 kms from Delhi and has some of the most beautiful havelis with exquisite wall paintings..Time
This was in the morning near around 8 amLighting
The lighting was not very harsh as the sun had just come up and being winters was not very harsh. However this was taken in shade.Equipment
I used my nifty fifty lens- 50mm 1.8 on a Nikon D5200 body. This was handheld..Inspiration
The features of this old gentleman. he was the watchman of the hotel we stayed in. I remember him being quite courteous especially to my 6 year old son. I spotted him from the terrace where i was taking snaps and his attire of red turban- Here it is B&W- made quite a contrast. I requested him for a portrait and he gladly accepted.Editing
Yes i converted this into B&W in LR and increased contrast to bring out the features..In my camera bag
My Nikon D5200, 50mm 1.8D, 18-105 LR Nikkor, Tamron 70-300 Zoom. A UV filter for my Tamron and a 4 stop ND filter for 18-105. Apaprt from this i carry my cleaning kit and also sometimes extension tubes for macro ,if i happen to strike the mood for macro photography..Feedback
Read somewhere from a guru: for portraits try to get the other person comfortable. I fight my shyness to approach people now. thanks to photography i have actually opened up.. For others...i would suggest the same. Street photography is the most daunting...
