Location
This photos was taken at a high school boy's water polo game. I had photography classes in college where I earned a degree in graphic arts.Time
This is one of my favorite photos. I really love taking action shots and especially in the water. I love the determination on his face and the movement of the water. I took this photo in October 2013, the game started at 3pm.Lighting
I love taking action photos in sports because they really draw you in. There is great sunlight with the water reflection and the movement is just so amazing. I love capturing that stop motion of the water and the quick play of the game. Water Polo is a fast moving sport and achieving that shot is the best part.Equipment
This was shot with my Canon EOS REBEL T1i Aperture: f/5.0 ISO: 250 Exposure: 1/2000 using my Canon Zoom lens 75-300mm.Inspiration
I enjoy being outside and capturing that moment in sports. That determination, the great block or shot, that moment stopped in time where you feel the competition and see it in their eyes.Editing
I did adjust the contrast and brightness slightly, just to help make the photo pop and enhance the water movement. In my camera bag
I always keep my Canon EOS Rebel T1i body and my Canon Zoom lens 75-300mm with my Canon 18-35mm lens. I have an external flash, which I keep just in case in my bag.Feedback
You really need to enjoy sports, any sport, and be ready to move and shoot fast. Take lots of shots, delete later. Zoom in for close up facial expressions and be ready to follow the ball or athlete and just be constantly shooting. Watch the light and keep it behind you especially with the water. I'm an amateur photography and love getting that amazing shot, that moment that just makes you feel the game and the athlete playing.
