We arrived to the lake in my mind right on time, before the sun rose and just as a slight drizzle past by. We parked, my brother went on sleeping for when I needed him was not until the sun was useful. I went out exploring the rocks in front where glowing with beautiful reflection but I could not see the mountain in the distance only the lights from something just above the timber line, the only thing in the distance I could focus on. Finding the focal point was difficult nature did the rest

You found one of my favorite spots to shoot(Hood from Trillium) The lights are from the snow cats that groom the slopes every morning for the ski day. Great shot.

I love this shot! I want to love it more, because I can tell with your talent, you could have taken the water droplets out without hurting the photograph. It is wonderful, with just a 16 spot cloning or spot removal it would be spectacular in every way. I understand why you may have left them in, but as someone just suggested on one of my own shots "it's the detail"! Just a suggestion, wonderful photograph.

Stunning image! I love being an Oregonian because all the beauty that surrounds us. I will have to add this to my must photograph list. Are the spots dust on your sensor? I had those on my D600 and sent it in for cleaning...now they're gone.

Congrats! I keep trying to get shots like this one with my D5100 but they are never as good as yours!

This was taken just before sunrise at Trillium Lake, Oregon.Time

Well there was not much light, I could hardly see the rocks and tree stump in front of me. This is a long exposure which is how the drag of the clouds was produced.Equipment
I had a very flimsy 3" tripod that I would carry around with me at the time that was useful in situations but was difficult to set if the lens was to heavy. I used my Nikon D5100 with a 18-55mm adjustable lens that was set at 18mm, iso set at 100, aperture at 18 and shutter speed at 30 sec.Inspiration
I was just starting to learn long exposure and this was only my fourth or fifth shot that I had tried and by happy coincidence I showed up to one of the perfect places to do so, I don't like flash of unnatural light almost or none of my pictures have been taken with any other light source besides what is presented in the situation.Editing
Yes I used some minor post processing through light room just to bring out shadows, highlights and crispness to the image. No Photoshop to blur clouds or masking. In my camera bag
Well I don't have much, a few lenses, extra batteries and memory, a few timers for time lapse and delayed shutter.Feedback
Not particularly, I'm still learning, my best advise would be go out explore and try it. you have to experiment on your own to really learn what you are doing.
