Location
This photo was taken just inside the mouth of a stream that feeds Hungry Horse Reservoir near the town Hungry Horse Montana while on a fishing trip.Time
This is one of my favorite images. It was taken while on a trip to Montana for me and my husband to renew our vows in front of family and friends on July 22, 2013, since none were able to attend when we got married 7yrs before. A few days after what my husband calls our revow, a friend of his took us fishing on his boat at the Hungry Horse Reservoir to one of his favorite spots to fish. I looked back the way we had come from and saw this scene and LOVED IT. I took several different angles and zooms, and this is my favorite of what I took. I think it was around 2-3pm.Lighting
The lighting was all natural and there has been no touch ups on this photo. I liked the way the shadows fell creating contrast with the light and how there was enough brightness to create a reflection of the mountain in the background on the water.Equipment
Canon Powershot sx10is with 10 megapixels, Aperture f/4.0, ISO 80, Shutter Speed 1/640. No extra equipment.Inspiration
It was an overwhelming urge to take this picture when I looked back the way we had come into the mouth of the stream. It was a serene scene that I felt needed to be preserved from our fishing trip.Editing
Not a bit. I felt there was not need to. The lighting was perfect the way nature made it. I do not alter my photographs except to make them black & white. In my camera bag
At the time of this photograph all I had was my Canon Powershot. But since it is now down and not working properly, I have upgraded to a Nikon D7200 that I take with me most of the time. But if I take all of my cameras I have my Nikon D7200, Nikon D3100, with 4 different lens that fit both Nikons, Nikon SB-700 Flash, and a Sony CyberShot. Of course extra batteries, SD cards, and chargers for everyone of the cameras in case I have a place to recharge if need be.Feedback
Keep your camera with you as much as you can, and always if possible. And remember what Perry White from Superman says "A photographer eats with his camera. A photographers sleeps with his camera".
