Where in the world was this picture taken? The ties look much too long to be North American?
The rails make me believe the terrain has been at fault for their shape.

I love these old trains! I have yet to take pictures of one! Great shot! I love the smoke and the position of the train with the trees. Nice work!

Location
Took a trip to Sumpter Valley Oregon where they have this old time train that you can ride. My photo club leased the train for the members and we were able to star and stop the train in order to get photos.Time
this was around 11:30 amLighting
has some shadow from the trees between me and the train, I got as much lighting as I could without having to bump the ISO up.Equipment
Sony A77 with a Sony 18-250, hand held and no flashInspiration
the trees seem to act as a natural frame for the trainEditing
light room to white balance, then to remove some shadow caused by the trees as the train approachedIn my camera bag
Sony A77, Sony 18-250, Sigma 50-500, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, wide angle, two flashes, mini tripod, triggers.Feedback
This area is a perfect place to photograph an old train, do the early trip so the light is above the train to help light the top of the train, normally not a good time to do photos, but in this case it helped me get the light I needed.
