It sure was a crazy afternoon, the sun was bright and beautiful and suddenly all changed within minutes and after I took this photo it got darker and gloomier.

Behind The Lens
Location
Montana is one of my favorite places I visit often. When I am at my summer property I have a great view over Anaconda This view is towards the east.Time
It was about 6:20 early evening when I parked my car and looked back down to town. I grabbed my camera and was excited to capture the moment before the cloud came closer and the wind started blowing, the atmosphere was right.Lighting
The light came from the west behind me, therefore I had good shadow and color in the clouds.Equipment
I hardly ever use my tripod, so it was quick to get the picture. I used a canon Eos 50D camera and at that time probably a Sigma lens at 44mm, ISO 320, shutter speed 1/4000 (a little to fast, but I just clicked away with the last setting I used previous), metering mode Center Weight Average.Inspiration
I was actually dashing home to get the sunset a little later behind my house and over the mountains, but the clouds in the opposite direction really inspired me.Editing
I used Photoshop 5 to tweak and brighten the picture a little, plus Topaz Restyle to give it the extra punch. In my camera bag
In general I keep 2 cameras, a full frame and a crop body with me now, a 17-40mm wide angle lens and a 100-400mm lens (all canon), also cleaning cloth, blower, extra batteries and lots of san disc cards. It depends on my trip and time of year for the choice of lenses.Feedback
I would say, be prepared before you take the picture, but again, don't wait if the scene could change before you get set up, shoot away.
