Location
I take this photo nearly two years ago in a wood near my house, in Belgium. It's the wood of Colfontaine.Time
It was the second part of the afternoon, during fall, when sun start to go down.Lighting
It's all natural light. I saw this sun through the trees and leaves, the reflection in the small river and decided to try to exploit it. It's a one exposure picture.Equipment
I use a Nikon D700, a 24-120 and a tripod. I had no ND filter with me to make a longer exposure for the water.Inspiration
The light: the sun above the river, the fallen tree in the background. But in fact, I think I was also the mood of the moment: alone in these wood, you see a beautiful light... How not to be inspired?Editing
Sure I do, in reality this wasn't brownish-red at this point: I accentuate the color. And as it is a single exposure I had to recover details in the shadows. Fortunately, my camera did a great job by capturing a lot of them.In my camera bag
My go-to bag or landscape is fairly simple: a body, 2 lenses (24-120 & 70 -200), a tripod, a remote timer and some filters, Nd & CPL.Feedback
Always search, follow and read the light. It is of course true for every photo you take but especially when you're in a wood. For example, if you remove the sun of this photo, the interest disappear.
