Location
This is a composite. The daylily was shot in my front yard in the afternoon light. The caterpillar was shot on my back porch where they used to come to cocoon themselves. They are very cooperative with the markings looking like eyes and will stay pretty still when you get close with the camera.Time
Flower in the late afternoon, I don't know for sure about the caterpillar. Probably in the afternoon, that is when they were usually around.Lighting
not much, just available light.Equipment
I think both of these were shot with my Sony H1 point and shoot. No tripod, no flash, just hand held close ups.Inspiration
It's a composite.Editing
Just selected the caterpillar, copied and pasted it to the flower shot and moved it until I got it in the right place, then played with the colors to get them to appear they came from the same shot.In my camera bag
I have a Canon T3i. Have a Canon100mm macro lens and a Tamron 18-270 zoom that I use most of the time. I also have a Canon SX50 point and shootFeedback
I'm not a technically savvy photographer, just know a small amount of Photoshop and use some filters such as the Topaz line. I'm still using Photoshop 7, so as you can tell, money is an issue.
