Behind The Lens

Location

I took the one of the girl in Palos Verdes, CA at a surfer area called The Cove, and the flowers in a neighborhood lawn in Palos Verdes.

Time

I always love shooting during golden hour, which is about an hour before sunset. It gives you wonderful backlight for portraits and macro nature shots.

Lighting

Like I said before, shooting an hour before sunset during "golden hour" is my favorite time to shoot because it gives a lovely halo effect in portraits and backlighting for the flowers.

Equipment

I used a Canon AE-1 film camera with a 50mm lens.

Inspiration

I have seen a lot of double exposure photography and I wanted to create something similar in Adobe Photoshop, since I didn't know how to do it with my camera.

Editing

I used Adobe Photoshop to overlay the two photos I took of my friend and then a closeup of flowers.

In my camera bag

My favorite lens currently is my 24-70mm L lens that I use with my Canon 5d III.

Feedback

My favorite double exposure shots are portraits overlayed with nature photography. It gives such an interesting feel to it. Make sure to play around with overlay settings in Photoshop to see all of the different possibilities!
