Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a nearby private pond within five miles of my home.

Time

This photo was taken midday on May 3, 2006. This was the time there were two Swan babies. The first time I was able to get some shots of the Swan family was back in 2003 when they had five babies.

Lighting

I relied on natural sunlight for lighting.

Equipment

I used my Canon EOS 20D and the 28X300mm lens. No tripod or flash was used.

Inspiration

This Swan baby was looking directly at me or so it seemed. I first discovered the Swans back in 2003 when they had the five little ones and sort of followed them since then.

Editing

No post-processing was used on this photo.

In my camera bag

I normally carry both my Canon EOS 20D and the Canon EOS 7D, 28-300mm lens & 28X135mm lens, extra batteries, extra memory cards, cleaning cloths and lens cleaner. I have a couple of filters and usually have one or two with me. Also I usually have one or more

Feedback

Patience is the key to capturing wildlife. If you are on a mission to capture a certain type of wildlife be aware of your surroundings as you may find something else that captures your eye and your lens. In other words keep your eyes open to all your opportunities and best of luck to all in capturing your shot.
