Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken at the pool area in Tropical Harbor Estates in Lake Placid, Florida.

Time

I took this shot about 1 in the afternoon.

Lighting

It was a sunny day and I was shooting into a palm tree.

Equipment

I shot this using a Nikon D-90 and a 70-300 zoom lens.

Inspiration

Actually I was sitting in the hot tub and looked at the palm tree. When I noticed the dove in the nest, I got my camera and took several shots to see if I could capture what I was looking at.

Editing

I mostly use post processing for color. I want the picture to look the way I saw it.

In my camera bag

I carry a Nikon D-90, a Nikkor 55-200, a Nikkor 70-300 and a Nikon SB-600 speedlite.

Feedback

I take my camera with me because I never know when I will find a shot like this. I have also found that for shooting birds, make your actions slow and nonthreatening. You can get some great shots that way.
