Behind The Lens

Location

I took this in Canada. My husband and I wanted to do a little get away so we took our camper out, drove a loop through Washington, into Canada, through Manning Park where we stayed for a night, than on our way back home to Western Washington. This photo was taken in Manning Park at one of the campgrounds. They have a small nature hike and this is at the beginning.

Time

This was taken in the evening.

Lighting

The lighting was perfect. When we came upon this bridge I just liked the scene and made my husband stop so I could take a picture of it. He thought I was crazy but was rather surprised how good it turned out.

Equipment

I used a camera, a tripod and a zoom lens.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the simplicity and yet the bridge seemed to have so much detail. I felt this type of photo could lead into a never ending story.

Editing

I did do some post editing in lightroom. Not all the boards looked the same color due to some shadows so I did some burning to make some of them look more darker and blend in with the others. I did not have to work on the exposure but did add a little vibrance.

In my camera bag

I generally carry my camera and a few lenses along with some filters. It depends on what I am doing and where I am going. If we are going on a long hike I like to travel lighter. I also carry my tri-pod.

Feedback

Lighting is a big key to making a photo like this stand out. Analyze the scene. Ask yourself what you see in a subject like this and if it can tell a story to make it interesting for a viewer. Make sure it leads into something instead of nothing so that it is not boring. Watch your composition.
