Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Oleta State Park in N. Miami Beach florida .

Time

I had been testing this beautiful young lady all day , as we were changing location I looked back and saw how her hair was beautifuly rimmed by the setting setting sun . Needless to say I stopped immediately to try and capture the beautiful glow the sun and hair created . Exact time eludes me but must have been around 6 pm

Lighting

Natural light streaming through an opening in the trees directly behind her , creating a magical glow on her hair and a soft backlit situation

Equipment

This was shot using my Nikon D700 with the 85 1.8

Inspiration

The inspiration was from the majestic glow the sun created as it struck her hair , It was direct enough to bring out her beautiful curls and screamed just enough to cast a soft backlit effect on her face .

Editing

LR . brought up shadows on her face a bit . Highlight reduced on hair a tad .

In my camera bag

Two bodies both Nikon D810 and D700 . One will typically have a 70- 200 on it and the other the 85 mm . Ready to go depending on shooting situation as I see fit .

Feedback

PATIENCE, PATIENCE , PATIENCE . Of course you must be at the right time and place , but you must have patience to have all things align the way you would like them to . I've found that if you try to force the situation , many times it just dosent work . Have a vision in your mind of the shot you want , then hoof it to try and find all the variables that make that shot happen as your mind imagined it . This is where patience comes into play as It never seems to come about right away but more through trial and error .
