Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a meadow near Binfield, England. I l

Time

This was quite an early spring morning. I had set out to photograph the bluebells (a flower that show up in the spring near here).

Lighting

I thought the warm light, slight mist / haze was great especially with how it created the "god" rays through the tree branches.

Equipment

I was shooting on a Canon 700d back then and I believe this was my nifty-fifty shot at f8 and 1/200 and ISO100. I usually shoot landscapes with a tripod but this time it was hand held.

Inspiration

It was really the rays of light shining through the tree that caught my eye and my breath.

Editing

This was some time ago, but as I was still quite a beginner with post-processing I probably over-did it in some areas. I think this would have been Lightroom and Nik Color Efex Pro

In my camera bag

These days I shoot with a Sony A7R and it all depends, but for landscapes I will have a Voigtlander 15mm Superwide Heliar, a 24-70mm Sony GM 2.8, 70-200mm F4 Sony, and either Leica R 135 2.8 or Sony/ Zeiss 55mm 1.8. And of course my tripod - 3Legged Thing Brian

Feedback

Advice, hmm. I think the main thing is get out of bed and see what the world has to offer. There is something magical about being up early for sunrise and wow the light can be fantastic. Also be open to finding something different than what you set out to photograph.
