Let me know what you think. +++ This little guy is a Common Buckeye Butterfly. He had landed on the shiny surface of the side rearview mirror on my Mini. The territory of the Common Buckeye is quite extensive, with their annual migration ranging from northern Mexico to part of southern Canada - excluding, for some reason, parts of the northwestern US. In several places online I have read that these little guys can be quite skittish and generally unapproachable. However, this one was a little sluggish. Perhaps this is due to them not being very cold tolerant. When it gets cold they migrate south. I took this picture in Biglersville, Pennsylvania on 9-29-2012 on a chilly 62° F day.
