.....fighting in the prairies that lie in the Wichita Mountains. Bison are 6 foot 2 inches and 3000 pounds. They can run 40 miles an hour for 15 miles like a walk in the park.. A horse can only run 1 mile with a rider. Bison are the largest living mammals in Europe and North America. The name seems to decend from a German word ...Wis pronounced Vis.... a word for musk. Apparently they have a certain musky smell when approached. They are fast strong and surprisingly nimble. A grizzly bear would not stand a chance in this world against an adult male bison .....Some humans have mistaken their seemingly peaceful demeanor only to be treated to a rather nasty education on safety when dealing these behemoths. Imagine being thrown into the air like a ragdoll and landing on the hard ground after your brief lesson in flight. Once there ....you better stay down because you sure as hell are not going to outrun it.

Thank you Hittthepenny .....I go to the mountains quite a bit and it is only the second time i have seen them fighting ...these 2 bison here were really going at it
