Flower Shots don't often catch my eye or impress me much, but this caught my eye. Great Comp. and Detail. Nice Work.

Absolutely great composition on this one. The burst against the dark background makes this photo. Voted plus awarded.

LOL! Thank you! I'm glad - this is one of my favorites. I've already got it enlarged and framed.

I am fascinated with this. I love flowers and planted lots of them though we have a slow growing season. voted

Location
I took this photo in Springfield VA - in someone's yard.Time
Early morning before the sun was too bright.Lighting
This was taken in natural light, diffused by trees overhead.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000 with my Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens. No flash was used or needed.Inspiration
The subtle colors in this flower and the surrounding flowers were so complimentary and made for a lovely composed photograph where the flower seems to jump right out at you. I love photographing beauty in any form and flowers are high on the list of my favorite things to shoot!Editing
This photo was cropped a bit to bring it closer. In my camera bag
A Nikon D7000 camera. Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens, a Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G lens and a micro lens, the Nikon AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G Lens. I recently purchased a Fujifilm XT-1 camera and have been using that of recent with a Fuji 18-135mm lens and a 55-200mm lens.Feedback
Although I did not use a macro lens for this shot - a good macro lens is an essential piece of equipment for shooting closeup flower shots.
