Location
There is a banana tree across the street from my house. Even though the nieghbors would give me funny looks, I would stand there for an hour waiting for the right critter to happen by. Of course I had plenty of time to adjust my exposure and focus. This particular hummer had been visiting me at the bannana tree for a number of days be fore I got this shot.Time
3pmLighting
I used an external flash in manual mode combined with the natural ambient lightEquipment
Shot with a Sony a77 and a Carl Zeiss 135mmInspiration
From my house, I used to watch this bannana tree and was amazed at the wildlife that depended on it for foodEditing
Shot in raw and processed in ACR and PS5In my camera bag
I dont bring much equipment when I go out to shoot. Normally I will take My a77, a 50mm lens and a 200mm lens, If it is going to be sunset or later session, I will also carry my tripod.Feedback
Be patient and try to pre visualize what the shot might turn out like. Take shots from different angles. Sometimes the most mundane subject can look super interesting just because you found a new perpective.
