Lots of balloons are serving tourists to oversee the beautiful sunrise of Bagan, which is an ancient city located in the Mandalay Region of Burma (Myanmar). From the 9th to 13th centuries, the city was the capital of the Kingdom of Pagan, the first kingdom to unify the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar. During the kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of over 2200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day.

Location
This was taken at Old Bagan, Myanmar.Time
I took this photo at sunrise during mid Winter season in Myanmar. To say exactly , it was taken in January, 2014.Lighting
Natural back-lit sunlight and sun rays breaking through the trees and ancient heritages made the breathtaking moment while lots of balloons are rising over Bagan.Equipment
I used Nikon D600 with Tamron 28-300 mm f/3.5-6.3 lens. Used Manual exposure program on my camera to control highlight. The setting was f/16, ISO-200, 1/400 sec @60mm.Inspiration
Since Bagan is a famous place in Myanmar for tourists, I really like to take photos there. Fogs were rolling in since early dawn of that day, the scene was very dreamy when sun shined over Old Bagan. The scene once more became alive with rising balloons serving tourists to oversee the Old Bagan.Editing
I used GND filter to compensate the skylight and converted to B&W, adjusted shadows and contrast in Light Room 5. Finally, sharpness increased in Photoshop CS 6.In my camera bag
I usually carry my Nikon D600 with Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G and Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3. I would use Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D for some travel portraits. I would also love to include LEE GND and ND filters in my bag for landscape photography since I love landscape photography.Feedback
Always prepare to arrive at the place for photographing before the sunrise/sunset to get your equipments ready and find the best place to suit you there for taking photographs. Never miss the unexpected beautiful moments and always looks for the right moments to capture since the moment is changing dramatically during golden hours especially in Winter season like this. Try to make best use of natural lighting in your photograph.
