This old dead tree looks like a dragon climbing up from the desert floor in Sossusvlei. Sossusvlei is a salt and clay pan surrounded by high red dunes, located in the southern part of the Namib Desert. It's one the most photographed spots in the world. It's 9am, baking hot and the light is harsh. The dune in the background is over 300 metres high. Used a ND filter to darken the sky. A little shadow enhancing and cropping.

Great composition Tim! It's sharp, the colours are bold and I get the sense of story. A wanderers journey through the Sossusvlei desert, in search of his long lost love.........haha or something like that.

Tim, You've nailed the stark beauty of the Namib, the oldest desert in the world. In the local language the name Namib can be translated as 'a place where there is nothing". I think that the Nama people got the descriptive word just spot on. Super colour and composition. Brian

Great representation of the end of the earth. How true it is with global warming. Voted.
