Behind The Lens

Location

In Jim Thorpe, PA there is an old mansion. Walking through the backyard of the mansion there were steps leading to this door. The door is surrounded by all these stones but there is no building that it leads to. Just a door in the middle of a stone wall.

Time

This photo was taking during the afternoon closer to dusk. If you look close you can see some of the rays of the setting sun on the rocks.

Lighting

I only photographed the door with stairs to give more of a mysterious photo. Make the viewer more intrigued as to where the door leads.

Equipment

Nikon D3200 camera with a Nikkor 55mm-200mm lens. I was holding the camera in my hand. No tripod or flash was used.

Inspiration

When I am looking to take a photograph I try to think outside of the box. I wanted something that makes you think in a manner of speaking. Looking at this photo it makes you think where does the door lead? What's behind the door? Things like that.

Editing

All I did was just a minor amount of cropping.

In my camera bag

In my bag I always have my Nikon D3200 camera body, 2 lenses (an 18-55mm and a 55-200mm), extra battery with charger, lens cleaning wipes, filters, etc.

Feedback

My advice is try to think outside of the box. Look for a subject that most people wouldn't or shoot from an unusual angle to capture the subject from a different aspect.
