Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in a village within the woodlands of Donnelly, close to Pemberton in Australia. these animals are in the wild but venture into the village.Time
I took this photograph in the early afternoon, the sun was high and a beautiful clear day.Lighting
As it was a very bright sunny day i had to ensure that the sun was behind me.Equipment
My beloved Sony A290 is what i used to take this shot. no flash was needed. I didn't have a tripod with me at the time, so this was handheld. A tripod wouldn't have been any use as these animals are so fast when on the run.Inspiration
This particular Emu was very curious and followed me wherever i went, continually looking into the barrel of my lens when he was close enough, i was very wary as he had already tried to snatch the camera via the strap, i was aiming to get a head shot of the curious bird or a shot of him chasing the others away. This is the best i got, which i am very pleased with.Editing
cropped itIn my camera bag
In my bag i have my camera Sony A58k slt. off camera flash, 6 lens' 1 sony 18-55 - 1 minolta. 24-135 - 1 minolta 35-70 - i minolta 75-300 - 1 bower fish eye lens, and 1 extender plus various filters and macro filters, cleaning cloths and batteries.and either my monopod or tripod.Feedback
Keep your distance these creatures can be very aggressive, trial and error with the settings as they move around from place to place. in and out of the sun.
