Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo in spring in the vast fields of Moravia, Chezh.Time
it was about 5;30 in the morning.Lighting
The lighting was classical favourite of all landscape photographers. It helped me catch low diagonal sun rays to develop the smooth slopes and highlight the tree.Equipment
Canon 5dm4 and a rented lense of 600 mm, 5,6. A tripod, naturally.Inspiration
the smooth running hills covered with blossoming rape looks so much like the sea albeit green. Any object - a tree, a person, a deer - stand out so profoundly that it is impossible to pass them by and not make a composition center.Editing
The picture asked for very little work as the light ws perfect. Some patching up to get rid of imperfections in the field. Minimal adjustments in contrast and clarity. In my camera bag
Usually i carry around a camera and a couple lenses - 24-70, 2,8 and 70-200, 2,8. On occasions I add other lenses depending on the photos I anticipate: a macro, a long telephoto.Feedback
Using a long range telephoto lense like 600 mm provides new ample opportunities but require a new approach, too. You need to train to see something small and interesting in the distance to be able to isolate it with the lense. I like it when the final picture is minimalistic and using a telephoto just helps get this result. Also, from one and the same point you may find a few very different subjects which also attracts me.
