Location
seized the opportunity to take this captivating photograph while standing on the tranquil shores of Loch Goil. In the foreground of this picturesque view, a vibrant yellow and blue boat rested gracefully by the water's edge. Its contrasting colours popped against the natural blues of the sky, adding a delightful and dynamic focal point to the composition.Time
This was around three o clock. I do enjoy this time of day since the sun is a bit lower and makes some nice soft shadows.Lighting
The lighting here was bright and made the cloud's highlights stand out to view their fluffy nature. Also, the castle was greatly lit. I have to thank mother nature for that.Equipment
I used my beloved Sony A58 with DT 16-50mm f/3.5Inspiration
I wanted to take a digitized memory of my holiday at Loch Goil. I ventured down to the beach, and I noticed some boats, which inspired me to use them as a foreground and the castle in the background, doing this made me capture a great digital memory of one of my favourite holiday's.Editing
I post processed in my favourite post processing too, Lightroom Classic. I usually make slight adjustments, such as the shadows, contrast, sharpness, and gradients to bring the sky out more, altering the sliders just a wee bit to make the RAW file into something natural that I remember to that day.In my camera bag
Usually, I have the mighty Zuiko vintage lenses and a Sony A7, along with my Sony A58. I do enjoy using the old 50 year lense as, not only is it incredibly sharp, but it is also very robust and built like a tank. I also love using vintage lenses to due the mechanical nature of them, adjusting the focus and aperture manually, hearing the clicks...I find that rather satisfying.Feedback
Research potential locations beforehand. Look for spots with beautiful natural landscapes, such as lakes, rivers, mountains, or coastlines. Websites, travel guides, Google Maps and photography forums can provide valuable information. As seen in the Loch Goil photo, having a visually appealing foreground element, like the colourful boat, can add depth and interest to your composition.
