Cool angle, oh I love prop blur when prop planes are in the air. Great shot.

Behind The Lens

Location

I attended the second of my 3 Red Bull air races held on the Detroit River between Canada and the U.S.

Time

Can't remember exact time but took place sometime in the afternoon.

Lighting

Just available light used here.

Equipment

Nikon D300, hand held and available light. I used a Nikkor lens 70-200 mm

Inspiration

The race itself, the action !

Editing

Well of course the cropping, some sharpening and boosting the color just a bit. I replaced the sky because the original was a very dull gray and filled with a haze from all the smoke trails of the racing aircraft.

In my camera bag

I use a suitcase made for photo equipment. I have two camera bodies 4 lenses, several batteries, a flash, memory cards, chargers, plastic rain cover, cleaning kit, filters and motor drives 2.

Feedback

This is a panned shot so panning needs to be practiced with intensity and in doing so, follow the subject and keep the subject in focus don't worry about the background. The other part is setting your shutter speed and aperture to reflect the motion in the photo, takes a few shots to get it right.
