This photo was taken at a small man made landmark in Washtucna, WA. #thatnwbus is essential an old bus in the middle of a giant field that showed up one.Time
This was taken around golden hour or sunset back in spring of 2021.Lighting
I wanted this image to feel kind of like a fairytale, but with modern world vibes. Fairytale always have this great feeling of being bright and clean and colorful, the real world can be dirty, broken, and ugly.Equipment
At the time I was using my Sony A7RII with the 24-70mm f2.8 GM and a Siriu Mini tripod.Inspiration
I'm always fascinated with how photography can make the world around us look of feel very ethereal, and it can be with something as simple as how light hits or passes through a frame. This being a rusted bus in a field felt almost right to have that earthly vibe with the ethereal light.Editing
For this one I had to do a bit of editing to bring out the sun rays as well as all the color on the dark side of the bus. At the time everything was a bit under exposed, so ot took a bit of adjustment to get the tones and saturation I wanted. In my camera bag
I always had my Sony A7RII (recently upgraded to the A7R IV), and 85mm f1.8, and it's a trade off for my 12-24mm f4 G or the 24-70mm f2.8 GM. Other than that the typical ND filters, cleaning kit, lumecube for some lighting effects, gopro 9, and my iPad pro to edit on 5he go if I need.Feedback
One thing that I've definitely learned about this shot is patience. I took probably 90 or 100 photos over an hour trying to get this right. Timing is definitely key here as well, but patience is actually what kept me there trying.
