Location
Daniel came to see me in my home studio. I wanted him to feel relaxed and at ease.Time
If my memory serves me right, we started in the late afternoon after Daniel had finished his work day.Lighting
I’m using a simple setup here with a single flash head, and we also mucked around with a white bouncer.Equipment
My Canon 5D iv and a Canon 100mm 2.8L was my choice of weapon here. Flash head was an elinchrom 500 brx with deep octa 80 cm to get some of that beauty dish feeling. And I used a manfrotto tripod/head. The background is actually my wallpaper.Inspiration
Daniel is very expressive and I wanted to portray different feelings and emotions. I tried to trigger him to show more of his soul and inner self.Editing
As per usual I started out in raw editor to sharpen, set contrasts and overall details. After that I worked on it in photoshop, I blended a couple of different exposures to get a slightly enhanced dynamic range and worked with curves for more colour and contrast alterations. In my camera bag
Normally I have my canon 5D iv and a 24-70mm 2.8L, and a second lens depending on occasion. I usually also bring a speedlite w radio transmitter if need should arise. As well as the usual extra memory cards, batteries, nd filters and dust rags.Feedback
Get your subject to feel safe secure and at ease. Be vocal about your vision and try to get there together. Don’t overthink your lighting, start with one light and add if needed. Have fun!
