This photo was made during a demonstration for hair and make-up for brides. A befriended hairdresser asked me to do a shoot for her. She was trying to get more brides so i took some pictures for her to put on her social media.Time
It was during the afternoon, the shoot was about two hours and this photo was taken almost at the end.Lighting
Together with the excisting light, one on-camera flash was used. It was tilted upwards 60°and used with built-in wide-angle adapter and slide-out bounceEquipment
The camera was a Sony A99 and the lens a Sony Carl Zeiss 85mm f/1.4. This lens is my favorite lens for portrait shoots. I like the sharpness as well as the soft bokeh. The photo was taken handheld with one on-camera flash, the Sony HVL-60.Inspiration
I was almost ready with the shoot, when the model was checking her make-up in the mirror. I liked the view so i asked her to keep looking in the mirror while i focused on her reflection.Editing
Not much, just a crop and a little tweek on the highlights and shadows. The combination of ambiend light and the flash gave a soft pastel kind of image which i liked, so no color adjustment needed. In my camera bag
For this kind of shoot i use my main cameras which are a Sony A99 and a A99m2. The most used lenses are a Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 and Sony 70-200mm F/2.8G. I also use a Zeiss 24-70mm f/2.8 and Minolta 100mm macro for overview and close-up shots. For non portrait shoots there are also a Sigma 12-24mm 4.5-5.6 HSM II and a Minolta 20mm f/2.8 in my bag as well as a selection of LEE filters.Feedback
I am a quality over quantity kind of photographer. I do not take hundreds of photos during a shoot. I observe and take photos on the moment it feels right for me. If you look, observe and then take the picture it feels more rewarding. And also way less time going through a large number of photos, so i can also deliver the finished photos very quick.
