This is Taughannock Falls, New York, the highest, single-drop waterfall in the eastern U.S. The weather, stars, moon, fall foliage and park ranger rarely align to make this image possible. I had been waiting to capture this image for almost a year. To create this image, I took a 50 second tracked image of the sky. Then I took a four minute exposure of the ground and trees. However, a spot light behind me cast horrible shadows on the canyon walls during the four minute exposure. Fortunately I had taken a test shot to frame the scene about an hour earlier during the blue hour. I used the test shot for the ground and trees, and blended that shot with the sky exposure.
