Behind The Lens

Location

This Photo was taken on the Roebling Bridge located between Cincinatti Oh. and Covington , Ky.

Time

Taken on a beautiful evening in July around 6:30 pm

Lighting

Natural light ; but it was a gorgeous evening an the light was golden.

Equipment

Shot with a Nikon D850 with the Nikon 24-70 mm f2.8 lens and a circular Polarizer. Camera was set at ISO 100, shutter at f8 and speed of 1/640 sec. Lens was set for 30mm. Grided metal road bed made a tripod difficult so I sat on the road to achieve the distortion in the bridge to create the vanishing point between the ballerina's.

Inspiration

My studio Mate , Bill Cole , arranged the evening shoot through an instructor of the Cincinatti Ballet Troup. Roebling Bridge was closed to vehicle traffic and we thought it would provide a unique perspective; safely.

Editing

No Post processing was necessary outside of the normal Raw adjustments.

In my camera bag

I usually use the D850 for most outdoor shooting, especially if there are significant details. 46 Megapixels makes for a well textured picture. Inside I shoot Nikons D5. My lens selection is usually determined by subject and finished reult I wish to obtain. I have a significant collection of Nikon lenses. I have recently added the Z7 to the toy zoo.

Feedback

This shoot was blessed with wonderful lighting which doesn't always happen. The shadows were significant and added to the image I think. Had the weather been less cooperative we would probably added lighting for more drama. We also shot and hour or so on the River Walk with 15' x 25' murals as backdrops. Really a fun and productive event.
