Location
This photo is shot on an Island outside of Bergen, Norway. The Island is called Bjorøy. In the far end you see another island called Sotra.Time
This was shot in the middle of the day.Lighting
In the middle of the winter in Norway the light is usually very hard since the sun is never gets high in the sky. But this day there were some clouds that took a bit of the hard hars light away.Equipment
It was shot with a Sony A7II, Venus Laowa 15mm f/2 Zero-D, a 6 stop B+W ND filter and a tripod.Inspiration
This day we were actually on this Island looking for Eagles. But when passing this spot I just had to stop. Luckily I had packed the 15mm, but I only had the 6 stop filter that was already mounted oye lense. I had to climb over a fence trough a private property, and it was very cold and there was a lot of waves. I should have had a 10 stop filter and a graded filter, but I had to try with what I actually had in my camera bag. And this was the result. This day my bag was packed for wildlife, not landscape photography. But luckily I had this lense also. But at the end I was happy with the result.Editing
In post I added the lense profile, adjusted the light, added graded filter for the sky and some local adjustments on the rocks to make the pop a bit more.In my camera bag
What I have in my bag depends on what I am going to shoot. I always have my Sony A7RIII. I like to travel light, so usually I decide for maximum to lenses in the bag. When going for wildlife I usually bring my 200-600mm and my 70-200mm. When I am shooting landscape I decide what I am going to shoot with before the trip, always my filters (NiSi, and sometimes some round filters from B+W) either my 15mm, 25mm, 35mm or the 70-200. And I stick with that and compose the shot with the lense I brought with me. For street photography I always bring my 55mm, and some time one extra lense. 25mm, 35mm, or the 85mm. But I like to challenge my self to stick with only one lense. In studio I prefer the 85mm, but I also use my other lenses, and I have 3 Godox studio lights, soft boxes, umbrellas and more, and a Godox TTL flash.Feedback
Always shoot landscape in manual mode (I only shoot in manual no matter what I shoot, I like to have controll and learn). Don’t let the camera decide for you, use the histogram! Shot the image several times from different perspective without filter, super low, a bit higher, and high. And then set the camera on the tripod at the hight that looked best in the camera. Take a new shot, check if you are happy with it. Then mount the filters and set the exposure according to how many stops the filter(S) has, take some shots until you are happy with the shot. Never rush a landscape shot. When shooting a wide lense for landscape I usually tilt the camera a bit down to get a «deep» and wide perspective. This image is shot at about knee hight.
