We are living by a small wetland in Nsw and there is quite a bit of bird activity there ...Time
This was an early afternoon shot as the birds had settled in the heat, and were quietly watching the scenery around them...Lighting
Because of the standing pencil willows behind them, and the soft effect of the creek underneath, it had a unique framed look around the egret, showing him off to great advantage for me ...Equipment
Because birds are a bit tricky to catch, and generally faster than my reflexes, I had set the camera on a quick shot pet exposure with my Nikon P600, with which, my instincts proved correct and he was in flight seconds later ... it was also a boon to catch him yawning, not something that you see very often ... and using the fence post as a tripod was a huge advantage to keep the camera still ...Inspiration
