Behind The Lens

Location

I finally have my studio at home. I got rid of the living room which I wasn't using very much anyway. It is a small place but I can be creative in there.

Time

Alejandra came in the afternoon and we began to see what clothes were the best for the shooting. Of course the most simple outfit was the best. We spent just a couple of hours making tests and shooting.

Lighting

I wanted to do a session with Alejandra since I met her, she is a funny kind of girl but she is also a powerful woman and I wanted to do something special more personal and intimate, so I decided to use just one light. I used a big softbox for the session, that's all.

Equipment

I used a Canon MKIII and a 24-70 2.8 lens with a big softbox.

Inspiration

Studio work has always been a major activity for photographers. I like to look at other photographers work, there are some amazing photos all over the Internet, but it is always more exciting to produce your own images. Sometimes it is more inspiring to take a look at the way the photographer works than their photos, I like to pay attention to the processes, not just the final result.

Editing

No complicated post-processing, just Camera Raw editing and a some cleaning in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I always try to keep may bag as light as possible, but I always carry a 24-70 2.8 lens and a speedlight with a remote. Of course my 5D is always there.

Feedback

Working in the studio can be challenging because there too are many things happening and even though it is a small -at least mine is- place sometimes you loose a sense of what your doing especially with lightning. Get inspired, but always do your own photos!
