Walking by the streets of my city, the gaze is turned upward for a short time, it is not captured by the beauty of the theater or the white of the historic houses, for years it knows degradation. Step by step, the eyes stop repeatedly on what the light impress on the road: the shadows, the negative of souls. From the top I crush reality, through the "il mio filtro animico," in another dimension. Animate and inanimate make no difference, the city is alive, it changes shape and protagonists. The manhole does not hide but shows a level below, everything becomes "underground", there is no difference between the first floor of a house and the street drawn as a canvas by the light. In this "Divine Comedy" our shadows meet, become stories or remain alone ... as graffiti in the city !!!

This picture was taken in my hometown Putignano in Puglia (IT) before moving to England. It is a letter of love to my country. This picture is part of a project of ten photos which where taken between 12am and 2pm on the 13th of March 2014. I was on the terrace of the highest building of the province of Bari (11 floors). It was a very cold and windy day and I remember having difficulty keeping my camera steady on the tripod loaded with everything I had in that moment.Lighting
Light was from a classic "southern italian midday" with strong contrasts. I shooted in low key as I had to follow the shadows.Equipment
Canon 70D, Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM , Manfrotto 190 + 808 RC4.Inspiration
I was inspired from Street Art and I am a fan of Banksy. My purpose was to transfer the art of murals to photography.Editing
I fixed the perspective and optimized the light. In my camera bag
Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 70D, Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM, Canon 40mm f/2.8 STM, Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art, Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM.Feedback
Photography is not only technique for me is more important conceptuality itself. Tips: patience and ability to catch the light and the instant are at the base of this project ... CARPE DIEM.
