A jet ski rider rides his jet ski in front of the partially sunken WWII concrete ships at Kiptopeke State Park on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Fun Facts: In December 1949, nine ships that were used to transport military supplies during World War II were lined up and partially sunk to form a ferry breakwater off the coast of Kiptopeke Beach on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The ships protect the beach and provide a home for coastal fish and birds. What's probably most fascinating about them is that they're made of concrete due to steel being in short supply at the time.
