This photo was taken from our hotel room at Halong Bay, Vietnam, and was a very pleasant surprise on opening up the window blind for I had no idea what the view would be like!Time
It was around 6.00 a.m. on October 10, 2014.Lighting
The lighting was misty and this enhanced the impression of the receding limestone hills. Also, it's worth noting the typical thinness of the houses due to frontage to the street having importance for commercial purposes.Equipment
My camera is an Olympus E-510 DSLR using the 40-150mm Zuiko Digital at 67mm and f4.5 at 1/125 sec, ISO 400, hand-held, center-weighted metering.Inspiration
It was really the unusual fabulous view, lighting and pleasant surprise. I took many other shots using filters but this is the best.Editing
No.In my camera bag
Olympus E-510 DSLR with Zuiko Digital 40-150mm & 14-42mm lenses plus a 50mm Zuiko Digital Makro f2 lens for butterflies, dragonflies and moths and spiders, Olympus electronic flash 600R dedicated for TTL control also, range of Cokin filters and a table top tripod. Also a Canon Powershot A3300 IS, 16 Megapixels for "walking work" as it is small, lightweight but very flexible and I've had some prize-winning shots also with it!Feedback
Number one: always carry a camera! Two: get up early for those great sunrise pix. Three: take plenty of varying shots as it costs money to get to those fabulous locations and you don't want that to be wasted!
