Entrance of a Kilitbahir Fortress' bunker. These bunkers were covered by grass and they were used during the Battle of Gallipoli (in the First World War) by Ottoman soldiers to hide and sleep, to recover their injuries, and to hide their weapons, such as cannons and ammos.
The fortress was built by Sultan Mehmet II, along with a sister fortress on the opposite shore, in 1463 to protect the Dardanelles from the pesky Venetians.
