Location
This is actually a blending of two separate images. The blackbird image was taken while on an evening walk. And the moon was also taken just at its rising. Never leave home without your camera, because you never know when a photo opportunity will present itself, even among the most seemingly ordinary of situations!Time
As I recall, both images were taken late evening against a backlit sky. I edited the moon to darken the sky, and I also increased shadows on the blackbird to achieve a silhouette. It was luck that the bird had its beak open.Lighting
Nothing special... just evening light and post processing to achieve the desired result.Equipment
Camera was Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ150, hand held.Inspiration
The sound of birds on an evening walk! This photo merge was also done at a time when I was fascinated by using my image of the moon as an artistic element in combination with other images. While each image should be able to stand alone, the combination of the two often results in another dimension of creative storytelling.Editing
Post-processing photo merging was done using PicMonkey. I continue to be intimidated by Photoshop and use online applications as well as many Smart Phone apps almost exclusively. In my camera bag
The Panasonic Lumix FZ150 was a powerful little workhorse, and I continue to use it as a backup camera. I also own the Panasonic Lumix GX8 now, and Pana Leica 100-400mm, 45mm macro, and 12-35mm; plus the kit lens 35-100mm.Feedback
Experiment with different effects and apps! I strive for in camera artistry as well, but creativity often involves thinking outside the box!
