Behind The Lens

Location

This is Nelson, Nevada. Nelson is a 'ghost town' about one hour's drive from Las Vegas

Time

It was the middle of the afternoon - not the best time of day for photography but we were playing 'tourist' rather than 'photographer'. Thankfully there were some clouds in the sky to add more interest.

Lighting

Lighting - all natural. Not the best time of day but...

Equipment

This shot was taken a few years ago with a Nikon D700 and a 24 - 70 lens.

Inspiration

Although out for the day playing 'tourist' with the family I had read about Nelson and thought it would be a cool place to visit and I could get some photos there. I was not disappointed. There are many great things to shoot there but this particular view seemed to be a throw back to days gone by without any modern day intrusions.

Editing

Post - processing: raw and then nik filters to add drama to the lighting

In my camera bag

The current equipment I carry is: Nikon D810 and 850 bodies, 16 - 35, 24 - 70, and either 70 - 200 or 80 - 400 (most likely to be the latter) lenses, and a remote release. And all squeezed into a Lowepro 350 pro runner.
