This photo was taken at McCullough peaks, Cody, Wyoming, USA. I had spent the afternoon finding and then following a band of mustangs.Time
It was evening - around golden hour. You can see the how the light was making the landscape come alive but the real beauty for me was how it lit up this black mustangLighting
The great natural light of the evening is the key to making this shot stand out from being just a head shot of a horse. Plus this is no ordinary horse - he has the look!Equipment
It was shot on a Nikon D810 and 80 - 400mm zoom. A great combination in some ways but in others the slow frame rate was a big hinderance for capturing action shots but this guy was taking it easy!Inspiration

Cody, Wyoming is a great place to vist to see the mustangs. And then head to Yellowstone for more wildlife.
