I take this photo in Lanzarote, in winter, a few days after a big storm.Time
It was the beginning of a long stay in Lanzarote. I discovered the island and my priority was to visit the great expanses of lava and craters of this volcanic island. In the afternoon, I decided to go along the Atlantic coast. The weather was very bad previous days, and it was still bad. When the ocean appeared, he was very agitated, very dark. The waves were monstrous. I took some photos, without paying attention to what I had in my camera. I was attracted by the sight of the waves. It was only on my return to France, a few weeks later, I lent attention to these photos and I have been able to produce this one.Lighting
The light was awfull, very low. The setting was very difficult because the rocks were very dark, foaming clear enough, and the rest without apparent contrast.Equipment
I uses my old Sony Alpha 700 and a Sigma 75-300mm F4.5-5.6Inspiration
This photo is a good example of serendipity. I was in Lanzarote to discover the volcanic area, and I thought the Atlantic coast was uninspiring, dedicated to mass tourism and more concrete. I followed a small deserted road in the middle of an arid area, attracted by the succession of volcanoes and lava fields, and I came across on this desolate side. Nevertheless, there were few cars, but hardly anyone outside because the weather was very bad. I was very surprised and fascinated by the play of the monstrous waves on this volcanic coast, black and torn.Editing
I was so surprised by the show, and concerned to see my camera in the rain, I did not properly focus adjustments. The picture was overexposed. I fixed brightness, and I adjusted the levels and curves to intensify the color of the waves. In my camera bag
A camera : At this period a Sony Alpha 700, and now a Nikon D700. Two lens : A wide angle and a zoom.Feedback
Always take your camera with you. Walk, walk, walk, look ahead as behind. Take your time. Do not expect anything.
