Nice shot, I love the lights and the silhouettes. :)

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on the upper Nile river in Egypt, at the Esna locks. A rare desert rain storm was passing as our boat waited to go through the locks. I looked up, saw this scene and shot. Pure serendipity.

Time

This was in the late afternoon, maybe 3:30. December 29, 2010, a few weeks before the Egyptian revolution broke out.

Lighting

Nature provided the spectacular lighting.

Equipment

Canon SureShot SD750. Simple point-and-shoot camera for snapshots.

Inspiration

I saw this scene and was lucky enough to capture it.

Editing

Nope. This is just what the camera captured.

In my camera bag

When traveling, I carry a small camera, a small video camera and a small pocket-sized tripod. Extra batteries. That's it. The light load makes for faster reactions.

Feedback

Go lots of places and keep your eyes open.
