Location
I took this photo in a bulding called 'Neboti?nik' (It is a Slovenian word which would translate to Skyscraper), in the capital of our country Slovenia - Ljubljana.Time
I was going for a walk (probably after classes at the faculty, I do not recall exactly) with the intention of finding this staircase I have previously seen on some great photographs. It was already past 7 PM.Lighting
When I first saw this staircase I was really impressed. The light coming from above was simply beautiful. It was not very bright, so I had to bump up the ISO setting to 1600.Equipment
I used my first DSLR - my Canon EOS 500D along with the wonderful Samyang 8mm f/3,5 Fisheye lens. It would have been nice to use the tripod as well, yet I had not taken it with me.Inspiration
I saw some great photos of similar staircases and also from this place. I found out where I can find this particular one and went to explore it as soon as I had the time to do so.Editing
I took the photo in RAW format. So, naturally I had to post-process the photo. I transformed it in black and white and added some additional vignetting to emphasize the light coming from above and to lead the eye from bottom right to the bright spot on top.In my camera bag
Nowaday, I usually carry my Canon EOS 5D Mark III along with the Canon 100-400mm f4,5-5,6L IS USM lens as I have become more and more involved in wildlife/nature photography. Macro photography is also one of my biggest passions, so I use my Tamron 90mm f/2.8 VC USD for this genre of photography. Also adding some light can come in handy - with the Canon 430EX and the Canon Macro Ring Lite 14EX.Feedback
Well firstly you should do some research to what kind of places exist nearby. There is a lot of architectural pearls in your viscinity you do not yet know about. Secondly simply go to the location, have a look at it, sense the feeling of the place. Thirdly - happy shooting.
